The Coldest Winter Ever

And every single night, When the air is colder than ice,
When the rain starts to fall
Softly against my windows,
When the sound of thunder
Grumbles like the stomach of
A hungry child.
My phone vibrates,
And your name
Appears on my screen.
"Cuddles?" you say.
My heart beat flutters,
And butterflies pound against
The lining of my stomach.
"Come here?" I answer. My whole body Painfully aching for you. "I wish.." you reply.
I become painfully aware Of the distance between us.
How is it that we are so damn close,
Yet so far apart?
I imagine,
Your tall, muscly yet gangly body,
Crawling through my window,
Your clothes soaked,
With the tears that the clouds have shed.
Your hair drenched,
Leaving water to fall everywhere,
Like the tap you forgot to turn off.
Your body as cold as the winter breeze,
As you climb into bed with me,
Clinging my warm, vulnerable body
To your chest,
And covering us with the blankets.
Your strong arms,
Tightly wrap themselves around my waist,
Almost as if you're afraid to let me go.
Your hands as cold as snow,
Press against my stomach. I feel your body move,
And you look down at me.
Your hand slowly starts to lift up my chin,
And I look into your eyes.
The warmest brown that I've ever seen.
You trace the outline of my lips
With your fingertips,
And hold my face in your hands,
You press your soft lips against mine,
And the aching within my chest;
Floats away.
You release the pressure on my shoulders,
And leave my lungs, breathless.
I don't follow God,
I follow the 10 commandments,
But I'd pray
Every evening,
If it mean that I had
One more night with you.
You make me
Wish for rain,
Crave the sound of thunder
And ache for the icy cold air.
I wanted to write a poem
About you,
And call it the Coldest Winter Ever.
But there were no words
That I could string together,
Like constellations,
To explain the way
I have fallen in love with cold, August nights.
You make me wish that
Winter lasted forever,
So that I could never forget
The warmth of your eyes
And the heat you left in my heart.
